PLATTSBURGH — An inmate at Upstate Correctional Facility in Malone was charged for allegedly possessing prison contraband.
Jeramie Tharpe, 25, was arrested at about 8:44 a.m. Thursday following an investigation dating back to May 7, according to Plattsburgh-based State Police. He was observed swallowing an unknown object, and police said later they found a blade folded in half with a handle held together with electrical tape. Tharpe was charged with first-degree possession of dangerous contraband and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. He was transported back to prison where he will await further court action.
