Police Log: Sept. 5, 2010 — Felony arrest

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman is the latest to be arrested under the newly enacted Leandra's Law for allegedly driving drunk with two kids in her car.

Abigail Lawliss was arrested Friday night after she drove up to a sobriety checkpoint on Route 3 and police allegedly found her to be driving under the influence.

The 33-year-old is now facing a misdemeanor DWI charge, as well as a felony.

Under Leandra's Law, first-time offenses include the felony charge when children are involved.

She was later released on an appearance ticket.
