PLATTSBURGH — A car was completely consumed by flames Monday morning in a car fire.
John E. Cummings, 69, of Champlain was driving north on Route 9 near its intersection with Commodore Thomas MacDonough Highway shortly before 11 a.m. when he heard a vibration near the front of his white Pontiac Bonneville.
Cummings pulled over the check his car and then parked it in the Gus’ Red Hots lot. He walked across the street to call his friend for help and when he returned to his car, he observed a small flame on the console of his car and some smoke.
Cummings went to get a fire extinguisher and when he returned, his car was fully engulfed.
