FORT COVINGTON — A Fort Covington man was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after being injured in an accident.
Philip M. Burl, 71, was driving west in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado on County Route 43 when he exited the south shoulder, striking a snow embankment, said Ray Brook-based State Police.
The accident was reported at 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 27. No damage was incurred to the vehicle, police said, but Burl was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center for chest pain.
While there, police said, Burl was administered sobriety tests and after being released, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor offense, and driving at an unsafe speed, an infraction.
He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Fort Covington Town Court on March 6.
