FELONY ARREST
CHAMPLAIN — A Rouses Point man is accused of stealing a car and driving it off the road while under the influence of alcohol.

Chazy-based State Police received a complaint at 6:47 a.m. Saturday morning from a woman claiming that someone had stolen her 2006 Pontiac G6 from her Champlain residence.

Shortly thereafter, State Police observed a car off the roadway on Perry Mills Road and found Dennis Robert Jr., 23, waiting with the vehicle.

State Police believe Robert, who allegedly failed field sobriety tests, had been waiting with the vehicle for as many as two hours before he was located.

Robert, who State Police said is a relative of the vehicle owner, was charged with third-degree grand larceny for allegedly stealing the car, which is valued at more than $3,000.

He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and was ticketed for driving at an unreasonable speed.

After being arraigned in Town of Champlain Court, Robert was remanded to Clinton County Jail, where he was still being held Saturday night for lack of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.

He is scheduled to reappear in court Dec. 30.

PERSONAL-INJURY ACCIDENT
CHURUBUSCO — At least one person was injured when two vehicles collided on Route 11 Christmas Eve.

Brittany Isenberg, 21, of Plattsburgh was driving on Route 11 around 12:30 p.m. when she attempted to turn onto Gagnier Road and crashed into an oncoming car being driven by Lucinne M. Joubert, 39, of Norfolk.

Plattsburgh-based State Police said Isenberg didn't see the approaching vehicle when she tried to make the left-hand turn.

Joubert suffered a range of injuries during the crash and was taken to CVPH Medical Center, where she was treated and later released.

It was unclear Saturday whether any tickets were issued after the crash.

CONDITION UPDATE
BEEKMANTOWN — A Plattsburgh man remains hospitalized after being hit by a car Christmas Eve.

Anthony M. Bell was walking on Route 22 near Ashley Road around 6:30 p.m. when, State Police said, he walked into the path of Lynn Golden's vehicle.

The 40-year-old was initially taken to CVPH Medical Center, where he was initially listed in stable condition, and was later transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care, hospital officials said Saturday.

Officials at the Burlington hospital were unable to release his condition Saturday.

Golden, 45, of Keeseville was not injured.

ROUGH WEATHER
PLATTSBURGH — Numerous accidents were reported across the tri-county area Saturday as the mixed weather created rough road conditions in some places.

Emergency personnel and police were called to several accidents after vehicles slid off the slick roads or into other vehicles.

Luckily, they said, most of the accidents were property damage and that no one appeared to be seriously injured during any of the crashes.

Because of the frequent calls, authorities were unable to provide additional information about the accidents later Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Burlington, Vt., has issued a winter-storm warning for mixed precipitation through today.

The warning calls for up to a half-inch of freezing rain and light sleet in areas throughout northern New York.
