DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday night.
New York State Police reported Alan L. Rabideau, 49, of Macomb Street was pulled over for an alleged muffler violation near Dunkin' Donuts on Route 3 in the Town of Plattsburgh. He refused a breath test while being processed at the State Police barracks in Plattsburgh, police reported.
Rabideau was arraigned before Beekmantown Town Justice D. Russell Lawliss and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail. He is to appear in Plattsburgh Town Court at 4 p.m. today.
Police reported Rabideau is presently charged with misdemeanor DWI. That charge is expected to be upgraded to a felony due to a previous DWI conviction in 2001.
The disposition of that case wasn't reported to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, but that is expected to happen today, police reported. They said Rabideau also had DWI convictions in 1985 and 1998.
