Police Log: Feb. 2, 2010 — Felony arrest

MALONE — A Malone man is accused of violating a court order of protection and brandishing a steak knife when approached by police.

Malone Village Police received a report of a domestic dispute on Webster Street at about 1 a.m. Monday.

When police arrived, they allegedly found Eric S. Gonzalez, 25, in the residence, which was occupied by a woman with a court order of protection barring Gonzalez from any contact with her.

According to Village Police, Gonzalez allegedly displayed a steak knife when police approached him.

He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal contempt and menacing a police officer, both felonies.

Gonzalez was arraigned in Malone Village Court, where a judge discovered an outstanding warrant for Gonzalez's arrest issued by Town of Malone Court stemming from a violation of probation tied to sentencing for a separate criminal case.

He was additionally charged with a misdemeanor for the violation and was sent to Franklin County Jail, where he was still being held without bail Monday night.
