FELONY ARRESTS
MALONE — A former Bare Hill Correctional Facility inmate is accused of possessing a dangerous makeshift weapon inside the facility.

Malone-based State Police arrested Edwin A. Santiago Monday morning on a charge of first-degree possession of dangerous prison contraband.

Authorities said the charge stemmed from the 28-year-old's alleged possession of a sharpened pen inside the facility last December.

Santiago, who is incarcerated on an assault charge, remains in custody.

He is currently being held at Auburn Correctional Facility.

MALONE — An early morning assault attempt has landed a St. Regis Falls man behind bars on a weapons charge.

Thomas G. Wilcox was arrested Tuesday morning shortly after the 3 a.m. complaint to Malone-based State Police.

Authorities believe the 23-year-old possessed black metal knuckles and took him into custody for third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was later taken to Franklin County Jail in lieu of bail or bond.
