MOOERS — Police arrested a Mooers man for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.

An arrest warrant from the Town of Mooers Court was issued for Donald E. Velodota, 58, after he was seen driving a stolen vehicle first reported missing July 24, according to Plattsburgh-based State Police.

When officers arrived to execute the warrant at 1931 State Route 11, they were told Velodota was in Massachusetts, but that he would be given the message to find them upon returning to the state.

He was subsequently arrested at 10:36 a.m. Aug. 1 and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.

Police said the value of the vehicle exceeds $3,000.

Velodota was arraigned in the Town of Champlain Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.

He is scheduled to reappear in court at 5 p.m. Aug. 7.
