Police Log: Aug. 28 2012 — Felony arrest

FORT COVINGTON — A Fort Covington man was arrested on felony charges Sunday. Michael J. Jackson, 38, was found to be staying in Room 114 at the Great View Motel in Fort Covington at 11:53 a.m.

Jackson allegedly was previously asked my by motel employees to leave and not return. Room 114 was being rented by another person who was not present. Police found clear plastic bags of marijuana in the motel room in which Jackson was staying. Jackson was arrested by Malone-based State Police at 12:45 p.m. and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Jackson was arraigned at Fort Covington Town Court and is being held at the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. It was not known when he was scheduled to reappear in court.
