---- — KEESEVILLE — Fire crews from Keeseville and Peru responded to a report of a structure fire at 154 Schuyler Road at 5:21 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, crews found a heavy chimney fire that was just starting to spread to the main structure of the home, according to chief David Perkey. Ten minutes later, a tank task force with a pumper and crews from South Plattsburgh, AuSable Forks and Willsboro fire departments were called in to provide backup supplies of water due to the rural location of the home.
Before arriving, the task force call was canceled because the fire was knocked down easily, Perkey said, leaving some water damage but minimal fire and smoke damage. Perkey believed the homeowners had insurance on the home and the damage was not extensive enough for them to have to leave.
AuSable Forks Fire Department provided standby at the Keeseville fire station.
