Personal-injury accidents
MALONE — A Constable woman was taken to the hospital with chest pains after a car crash here.

State Police said Briana Maldonado, 21, struck Chad Carter, 24, of Bangor, when he failed to yield at the intersection of Route 37 and Brand Road.

Carter was reportedly traveling north when he failed to observe Maldonado's 2002 Chrysler, which was heading west on Route 37.

Carter continued north, crashing into a 2003 Pontiac, operated by Linda Aubrey of Burke, overturning his 2005 Ford, police said.

Maldonado was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center, where her condition was not immediately available Thursday.

State Police ticketed Carter for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.

MALONE — A Moira man was transported to the hospital after losing control of his ATV.

State Police said Clement Campeau, 33, was traveling south at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his 2003 Kawk and overturned.

Campeau, who was driving on private property off Route 6, was transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center with back pain.

His condition was not available Thursday.

No tickets were issued.

TICONDEROGA — Police believe a Fort Edward woman inhaled intoxicating fumes before she drove into a concrete garage midday Thursday.

Ticonderoga Town Police said Bridgit Montgomery was driving north on Route 9N around 12:15 p.m. when she swerved across the road and veered into a nearby garage.

After the accident, the 31-year-old was taken to Moses-Ludington Hospital, where she was treated and later released.

During the investigation, police learned that Montgomery had allegedly inhaled fumes from an unidentified over-the-counter aerosol can shortly before the crash.

She was charged with violating the public-health law and cited for failing to keep right and reckless driving.

Police said her Jeep was totaled during the accident.

The garage was not damaged.

CONDITION UPDATE
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh City Police believe a critically injured man was lying beneath a pickup when it backed into him Saturday night.

Ronald Boulerice remains hospitalized in CVPH Medical Center's intensive-care unit following the 10:45 p.m. crash.

Though police are continuing to investigate the incident, authorities believe the 61-year-old was beneath his neighbor's truck when John Seiden attempted to back into his Roosevelt Terrace driveway.

When authorities arrived, they found Boulerice trapped beneath the truck with a serious chest injury.

City firefighters were able to extricate him and took him to the Plattsburgh hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition Thursday.

Police believe Boulerice was dragged about seven feet beneath the pickup. He was not run over.

Authorities have not been able to interview him due to his medical condition and ask anyone with information to contact City Police at 563-3411.

They are still unsure why Boulerice was under Seiden's vehicle.

No tickets have been issued.

FELONY ARREST
PLATTSBURGH — A traffic stop recently led to the arrest of a Keeseville man who was wanted for allegedly violating the terms of his felony probation.

Plattsburgh-based State Police stopped Andrew Dickerson on Boyton Avenue early Thursday morning and took him into custody on a warrant for the alleged violations.

The 20-year-old was also cited for a license-plate violation and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Dickerson was still being held at Clinton County Jail later Thursday awaiting further court action.

DRUG SEIZURE
MASSENA — Two Cornwall Island residents were arrested at a border crossing here earlier this week accused of trying to smuggle ecstasy into the country.

Customs and Border Protection officers charged Canadian citizens Mitchell David, 53, and Silas Benedict, 50, on federal charges of importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Officials said the pair were referred to a secondary inspection Wednesday that allegedly led to the discovery of 33 pounds of the popular club drug.

In a news release, customs officials said 50,000 pills were allegedly hidden inside a spare tire of the vehicle they were riding in.

Both men were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending prosecution.
