PERSONAL-INJURY ACCIDENT
PLATTSBURGH — Two women were injured during a three-vehicle wreck that involved a tractor trailer Wednesday morning.
The accident happened on Military Turnpike Extension around 9 a.m. when Theodore C. Peterson was driving his rig north on the state roadway.
Plattsburgh-based State Police said Peterson's tractor trailer somehow crashed into a utility pole near Peryea Drive, causing the pole to break and drop wires into the roadway.
As the pole fell into the oncoming lane, southbound driver Amy M. LaDue collided into it, causing Tiffany N. Creighton to crash into the back of LaDue's vehicle as she followed behind.
Both LaDue, 43, of West Chazy and Creighton, 37, of Plattsburgh complained of injuries after the accident and were taken to CVPH Medical Center, where they were treated and later released.
Peterson, 59, of Minnesota was not hurt.
It was unclear Thursday what caused the tractor trailer to hit the pole.
A State Police report also did not indicate whether any tickets were issued.
CAMP FIRE
MOOERS — Northern Tier firefighters were called to a remote section of woods near the Canadian border after a seasonal camp caught fire Wednesday night.
Crews from the Mooers, Champlain and Altona fire departments were called to 415 Eddy Road around 8:20 p.m. after a wood-stove fire apparently caught a section of the mobile home on fire.
Mooers Fire Chief Ray Phair said the camp, owned by Robert Rabideau, is located a distance from the road and that volunteers had to use a brush truck to access the site.
Though the camp sustained some damage, Phair believes it may be salvageable.
No one was hurt during the call.
