ALTONA -- A one-car rollover accident resulted in a DWI charge for an Altona man Sunday morning.
Chazy-based State Police reported Gene Penolio, 55, of 58 Brunell Road was driving on Miner Farm Road in the Town of Altona at about 10:40 a.m. when he lost control on a curve. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its wheels.
Penolio had a lacerated right finger and complained of back pain. He was transported to CVPH Medical Center by Altona EMS.
While Penolio was at the hospital, he reportedly failed a standard field sobriety test administered by a State Trooper. Police said he then consented to a blood test, for which results are not yet available.
Penolio was ticketed for driving while intoxicated, driving an uninspected vehicle, having an unsafe tire, failure to change the address on his driver license, failure to keep right and speed not reasonable and prudent.
He is scheduled to appear in Altona Town Court on Oct. 7.
Penolio was discharged from the hospital at 2 p.m.
