Police Log: Feb. 3, 2010 — Felony arrest

TICONDEROGA — A Ticonderoga teen once employed at Walmart is accused of stealing a debit card from a customer and using it to make purchases.

Ticonderoga Village Police received a complaint at about 1 p.m. Monday from a Whitehall resident claiming that a debit card was stolen from them while shopping at Walmart in Ticonderoga.

Shortly thereafter, Village Police arrested Brittany L. Bishop, 18, who was at one point an employee at the Ticonderoga store, and charged her with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree grand larceny — both felonies — for allegedly stealing and possessing the debit card.

She was also charged with six counts of petit larceny. Those charges allege Bishop used the debit card to make purchases of various items, each valued at less than $250.

It was unclear Tuesday if Bishop was working at the store when the card was taken and whether or not she is still employed.

It was also unclear where the purchases were made.

Bishop was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to face the charges in Ticonderoga Town Court at 9 a.m. Feb. 24.
