Repeat offender found guilty of felony DWI

Eighth arrest for drunken-driving for North Bangor man

MALONE — A North Bangor man with seven previous drunken-driving arrests was convicted this week of felony DWI in Franklin County Court.

Michael Colburn, 42, of Cold Springs Road was found guilty at trial and was taken to County Jail to await sentencing on Dec. 5 before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr.

Colburn was arrested for driving drunk on Halloween night last year about 7:30 p.m. in the Town of Westville after several parents accompanying their children while trick-or-treating saw him drive his vehicle into a ditch. They called State Police.

Testimony included reports that when Colburn could not free the vehicle from the ditch, he got out, staggered away, was unable to keep his balance while walking and fell down, according to a new release from Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Crawford.

His blood-alcohol content was 0.23, which is nearly three times the legal limit, the release states.
