PLATTSBURGH — A Peru man was charged with robbery and attempted assault Friday after he allegedly stole the shoes off another man’s feet, police said.
The crime was reported at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Plattsburgh City Police said.
Austin Haynes, 19, was allegedly arguing about money with another 19-year-old male on Elm Street in the City of Plattsburgh when Haynes forcibly removed the victim’s Nike Air Jordan sneakers, police said.
The shoes are valued at about $110, police said.
Haynes was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, and third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court Friday night, police said.
Haynes was taken to the Clinton County Jail where he posted $5,000 cash bail Saturday morning, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
His next court date was not available Saturday.
