PLATTSBURGH — An AuSable Forks man was arrested for allegedly taking two vehicles and selling them for scrap.
John F. Wood, 59, was taken into custody at about 2:39 p.m. Nov. 1 following an investigation dating back to May 8, 2009 where Plattsburgh-based State Police said two vehicles went missing from a property where they were being stored.
Police said a 1976 Lincoln Mark IV along with a 1985 Chevy S-10 pick-up truck were allegedly removed, without consent, from where they were being stored on property that Wood previously arranged to purchase on a line of contract.
He later sold the automobiles for cash to a local scrapyard, according to police.
Wood was charged with two felony charges of fourth-degree grand larceny with the property being valued at more than $100.
He was released on recognizance and is due back in court at a later date.
Wood was recently paroled from prison after serving four years in federal custody for conspiring with others to violate environmental law related to the illegal removal disposal of asbestos in the Plattsburgh area.
