ELIZABETHTOWN — Six residents of Essex and Franklin counties, including a man who once led police on a high-speed car chase, were arrested in a drug sweep.
Police said the six people sold drugs to an undercover police officer over the past year; authorities say the investigation showed they possessed and sold cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs.
Arrested Thursday, they were arraigned on felony drug charges and sent to Essex County Jail without bail, with a Sept. 13 court date set.
The investigation and arrests were done by the multi-department Essex County Drug Task Force.
The people arrested and charges are:
Kelly H. Porter, 52, of Ticonderoga: fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Richard I. Ruger, 23, of Ticonderoga: fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Jesse M. Maye, 26, of Ticonderoga, fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Gregory Cadiz, 24, of Plattsburgh, two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Brett Richardson, 24, of Lake Placid, four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Brandon M. Bashaw, 25, of Bangor, four counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
In June 2007, Bashaw led police on a 13-mile chase while driving a pickup truck at speeds of more than 110 miles per hour on roads in the towns of Bangor, Moira, Dickinson and Brandon In Franklin County.
He was charged then with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, along with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
The disposition of that case could not be determined over the weekend.
