PLATTSBURGH — Jaclyne Demarse-Marcil and Shawn Purtell were married Nov. 26, 2011, in the auditorium at City Hall, Plattsburgh by the Hon. Joseph Marcil Sr., grandfather of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Joy Demarse and Keith Herkalo of Plattsburgh and Joseph Marcil and John Ramirez of North Hero, Vt. The bridegroom is the son of Joseph and Jutta Purtell of Peru.
Jorja Marcil, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Best men were Bryan Purtell, brother of the bridegroom, and Michael Harrison.
Bridesmaids were Anna Marie Purtell, sister of the bridegroom; Natania Barron; and Jennifer Carolina. Madeline Lamontagne and Abigail MacDougal, nieces of the bridegroom, were flower girls.
Groomsmen were Michael Purtell, brother of the bridegroom; Michael MacDougal, nephew of the bridegroom; and Mark Curtis.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Keith Herkalo, with a bagpipe solo by Howard Carron.
Readers were Kimberly Lamontagne and Heide MacDougal, sisters of the bridegroom; Joy Demarse; and Joseph Purtell.
A reception followed at West Side Ballroom with music provided by Tim Hartnett. Flowers for the ceremony and reception were designed by Christine Frenyea, sister of the bridegroom, and the wedding cake was provided by Joseph Marcil Jr., father of the bride.
Jaclyne Purtell graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 2002, Plattsburgh State in 2006 and the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University in 2010 with a master’s degree in public policy. She is the evaluation and assessment coordinator for DukeEngage, Duke University, Durham, N.C.
Shawn Purtell graduated from Peru High School in 1998, The College of Saint Rose in 2002 and Binghamton University in 2005 with a master’s degree in teaching. He is a marketing analytics specialist for Red Hat Inc., Raleigh, N.C.
The Purtells reside in Raleigh.
