Not all comments are deemed printable. Some are disqualified, at the newspaper’s discretion, for a number of reasons. Here are some typical practices to avoid in trying to get your comment printed:

Don’t state as a fact something that is unsubstantiated or that our editors wouldn't know to be true.

Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

Dickson -- Giebink

LAKE GEORGE — Heather M. Dickson and Noel Christopher Giebink were married June 18, 2011, at The Boathouse Restaurant in Lake George by Harry Demarest.

The bride is the daughter of Charles and Hilarie Dickson of Plattsburgh. The bridegroom is the son of Thomas and Gail Giebink of Austin, Texas.

Katherine Ulloa of New York City was matron of honor. Katie Carr of Frederick, Md., was maid of honor. Best man was Marcelo Ratcliff of Corpus Christi, Texas, the bridegroom’s brother.

Bridesmaids were Diane Calinski and Cherisse Loucks, both of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Courtney Riepenhoff of Wallingford, Conn.; and Sarah Miller of New York City, the bride’s cousin.

Ushers were Matthew Dickson of Phoenix, Ariz., the bridegroom’s brother; Will Hartzog of Edinburg, Scotland; and Jim MacPherson of Goleta, Calif.

The bride was escorted by her father.

Readers were Renee Oare and Elizabeth Gayeski.

A reception followed the ceremony. Music was provided by Nonstop Music.

Heather Giebink graduated from Seton Catholic Central School in Plattsburgh in 2001 and Union College, Schenectady in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She also graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 2012 with a doctorate in biochemistry.

Noel C. Giebink graduated from Austin High School, Austin, Texas, in 1999; and Trinity College, Austin, in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and physics. He graduated in 2009 from Princeton University, N.J., with a doctorate in electrical engineering. He is employed with the Pennsylvania University State College.

After a wedding trip to Fiji, the couple live in State College, Pa.
