PLATTSBURGH — Philip and Beverly Gebo of 123 Lyons Road, Plattsburgh, celebrated their 50th anniversary at a special dinner with their children.
Philip A. Gebo and Beverly Risteen were married Dec. 24, 1959, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where they had driven from Spokane, Wash. Not a dime between them, they borrowed the money for a marriage license because they knew it was meant to be.
Philip is retired. He served 22 years with the U.S. Air Force, 20 years with Plattsburgh Housing Authority and 18 years as president of Dad & Me The Country Way.
Beverly is a volunteer for Our Lady of Victory Thrift Store in Plattsburgh and president of Senior Bingo at Long's Apartments, Plattsburgh.
They cared for 42 foster children over the years.
Their children are Donna Dean and husband, Jimmy, of Vacaville, Calif.; Randal Gebo of South Hero, Vt.; Tamara Thomas and husband, Michael, of Plattsburgh; Philip R. Gebo and wife, Karla, of Schenectady; Tricia Gebo of Plattsburgh; Tammy Palmer and husband, Vance, of Waterloo, N.Y.; and Michael Sroka and spouse, Laura, of Charleston, S.C. They have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
