PLATTSBURGH — Sue Ann and Ronald R. Shaffer of 17 South Acres Road, Plattsburgh, celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 27, 2009. A Hawaiian luau was given by the couple's children at the home of their daughter, Carol Kline, with many family members and friends in attendance. A renewal of their wedding vows was performed by the couple's son-in-law, the Rev. Jeffrey A. Baxter of Moose Creek Baptist Church, Alaska.
Ronald Richard Shaffer and Sue Ann Harper were married June 27, 1959, in the First Baptist Church of Plattsburgh by the Rev. Ralph E. Turner. Their wedding attendants were Carol C. Pizzella, sister of the bride; and Donald Goehring.
Ronald retired from New York state and is employed at Lab Corp. Sue is retired from Clinton County ARC.
Their children are: Mrs. Jeffrey (Judi) Baxter of North Pole, Alaska; and Mrs. Kurt (Carol) Kline, Mrs. Scott (Linda) Douglas, and Chris (Sherrie) Shaffer, all of Plattsburgh. They have seven grandchildren: Jeremy, Janet, Joshua, Ryan, Nikki, Jessica and Joanna; and two great-grandchildren: Alex and Caleb.
