BOSTON — Robert and Eileen Gendreau of 17 Sheila Ave., Plattsburgh, celebrated their 50th anniversary Aug. 8, 2009, at an anniversary dinner at Burton's in Boston. They plan to take a trip to Liverpool, England, in the near future.
Robert Patrick Gendreau and Eileen Mary Culshaw were married Aug. 8, 1959, in St. Elizabeth's Parish, Liverpool, U.K., by the Rev. Dean Wilcock. Their wedding attendants were Marie Judge; and Maurice Gendreau, brother of the bridegroom.
Robert Gendreau was employed by the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955 and retired from the U.S. Air Force July 1, 1977. He also retired from the Department of Corrections in March 1998. Eileen Gendreau retired from the Plattsburgh Air Force Base PX in 1980 when the base closed.
Their children are Bob and Carol Gendreau of Waldorf, Md.; Mark and Emily Gendreau of Andover, Mass.; Jon and Mary Christina Van Etten of Brentwood, Calif.; and James and Lisa Gendreau of Oviedo, Fla. They have nine grandchildren.
