Titus Mountain Family Ski Day set for Saturday

MALONE — With 15 new trails and glades and an expanded base lodge, Titus Mountain looks forward to hosting the North Country Chamber of Commerce Family Ski Day on Saturday.

Bruce Monette Jr., who purchased Titus with his brothers, Brian and Chris, and their families in November 2011, said it will be a great day of family friendly fun.

“We are trying to introduce Titus to the folks of Clinton County as a nice option for families,” he said. “The conditions are as good as they’ve been since we owned it.”

They cleared ground for the new trails and glades during the summer, and they have renovated as well as expanded the base lodge. Monette said they were pleased to work with the chamber to introduce those improvements to more people.

Chamber Executive Vice President Jody Parks said the Monettes, who own the Adirondack Energy family of businesses in the Malone area, are also partners in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites and own the Mo’s Pub and Grill in that building.

“I know they have put a lot into Titus and Malone,” she said.

FREE GROUP LESSON

This will make a nice addition to the chamber’s annual Ski Day at Whiteface on March 7, which is always held midweek, Parks said. That means not many younger family members are able to attend.

“This is a good chance for chamber members and others to spend time with their families at Titus,” she said.

While she hasn’t skied at Titus so far this year, she said a fellow passenger on a recent gondola ride at Whiteface was raving about how great the changes are.

Tickets must be purchased by calling the chamber at 563-1000 by Wednesday. Cost is $30 for adults and $27 for children ages 5 to 12 and seniors 65 to 69.

Tickets are good from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and include the Apre-Ski Party with free munchies at 4:30 p.m. in the base lodge. Rental equipment is available for $20, as is use of the snow tubing hill.

A free group lesson will also be available.

There will be several activities scheduled throughout the day.

Holiday Inn Express and Suites is offering a $99 rate for Saturday night to those who call 483-1210 and mention Chamber Family Ski Day.
