Fishin' for Mission slated for Jan. 23 on Chazy Lake
PLATTSBURGH — The first Fishin' for the Mission ice fishing derby will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, on Chazy Lake.
Eligible fish categories are perch, pike and trout. Prizes are for the top three in each category. Derby hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A $20 entry fee includes a spaghetti dinner. All proceeds benefit the North Country Mission of Hope.

Post 1619 to host Big Buck Awards
WEST PLATTSBURGH — The fifth-annual Big Buck Awards Banquet sponsored by American Legion Post 1619 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at the legion hall on the Rand Hill Road.
There will be a free buffet, taxidermy exhibits, raffles and the awarding of the "Green Jacket" for the first-place winner.

Mud Pond Rabbit Hunt set for this weekend in Redford
REDFORD — The Mud Pond Rabbit Hunt, now in its 24th year, will be held at the American Legion in Redford Jan. 23 and 24.
This year, $12 covers the entry fee and two spaghetti dinners. Prizes are $300 for heaviest rabbit, $200 for second, $150 for third and $100 for fourth.
