CHAZY — A snowmobile accident sent three men to the hospital early Friday, one with head and internal injuries.
Douglas M. Tetreault and Robert Worrell were first taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh and then transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
State Police based in Chazy said Tetreault, 22, of Rapids Road in Champlain, was piloting a 2004 Polaris snowmobile along Rapids Road along a bank of the Great Chazy River with Worrell and Johnny Vega Jr. as passengers. Sometime before 1:30 a.m., when the 911 call was made, the snowmobile struck a pile of brush, police said, and all three were ejected.
One of the men managed to walk to get help; all three were taken by ambulance to CVPH, where Vega Jr. was treated then released.
Worrell, 20, of Plattsburgh, suffered injuries to an elbow, lower arm and hand, the police report said.
Vega, 26, also of Rapids Road, had injuries to a shoulder and upper arm, police said.
All three were conscious when help arrived; police said Tetreault admitted to having had "a couple beers."
Police said charges were pending, as the investigation wasn't complete.
As of Friday afternoon, Tetreault was still being evaluated, and Worrell was listed in good condition.
