---- — Jay’s Jersey Bridge closed for insulation repairs
AUSABLE FORKS — The Town of Jay has temporarily closed the Jersey Bridge in the hamlet of AuSable Forks to repair the heat-trace and sewer-pipe insulation located along the side of the span. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the day Monday, Oct. 15, at which time the bridge will be reopened.
Residents are to use the Sheldrake Road as a detour for the duration of this time. There will be a
pedestrian walkway to cross the bridge. Residents can also park their vehicles at the
Town of Jay Community Center to assist with their commute to work. If there are any questions
or concerns regarding the bridge closure, contact either the Town of Jay Supervisor’s
Office at 647-2204 or Highway Department at 946-7170.
Agenda set for Common Council meeting
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will take action on several items at tonight’s meeting.
Among them are a request from the Community Development Office to advertise for bids for housing projects at 43 Standish St. and 146 Miller St. and a request from the Municipal Lighting Department to advertise for bids to purchase electric revenue meters.
The meeting begins with a work session at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
Both meetings are open to the public.
Volunteers sought for public-health drill
ST. REGIS FALLS — Volunteers are needed to help at a training drill for a simulated public-health emergency.
The Franklin County Public Health Office is conducting the exercise at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the St. Regis Falls Adult Center and needs participants of all ages to gather for a mass distribution of simulated
medication.
The event will be observed and evaluated by officials from the State Department of Health.

Pie sale to benefit Burke OES
BURKE — Frontier Chapter 203 of Eastern Star is taking orders for Thanksgiving pies. There are pumpkin and apple pie or pumpkin roll for $10.
Orders must be in by Nov. 16 and must be picked up between 4 and 7 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Chapter Hall on Route 11 in Burke.
