LPCS Board sets special meeting

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Board of Education Conference Room of the Administration Center, 50 Cummings Road, Lake Placid.

The only agenda items include a report by the superintendent that will include the status on district initiatives and an executive session on the evaluation of the superintendent.

Board meetings are open to the public.

Westport School Board to meet Thursday

WESTPORT — The Westport Central School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the school library.

The board will discuss the budget, a capital project and other business items that may come before the board.

All meetings are open to the public.

Ticket to Work Program offered

MALONE — People ages 18 through 64 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income are eligible for the Ticket to Work Program.

Malone OneWorkSource's disability resource coordinator can help those who qualify to improve earning potential, build confidence for a job search, secure health benefits and find, get and keep the right job.

The program also links participants back to benefits if their disabilities stop them from keeping a job.

An informational session will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Malone OneWorkSource, 158 Finney Blvd.

No Plattsburgh Town Court on Feb. 21

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Town Court 4 p.m. session will not be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, due to court personnel in training.

People who have an appearance scheduled for this day are due in court at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, instead.

ASPCA awards grant to Horse Rescue

WESTPORT — Crane Mountain Valley Horse Rescue Inc. has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in recognition of its work rescuing and rehabilitating horses in need.

These funds are for fencing for quarantine paddocks.

Crane Mountain is a nonprofit horse rescue program based in Westport that is dedicated to equine rescue and rehabilitation and to restoring horsemanship, the heritage and humane treatment of the horse.
