Village elections taking place today

PLATTSBURGH — A number of villages in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties are holding elections today.

Only Saranac Lake has a contested mayoral race.

Contested Village Board races are taking place in Keeseville and Saranac Lake.

Port Henry has an important referendum to decide whether to dissolve the village.

Polls will be open noon to 9 p.m. in all the communities.

Here's a look at the candidates:

BRUSHTON
Village Board: Lindsay Rockhill.

Polling place: Brushton Fire Department.

BURKE
Mayor: Craig Dumas.

Village Board: William Carr.

Polling places: Town Hall.

CHAMPLAIN
Village Board (two seats): Amy Gehrig; Thomas Trombley.

Polling place: Village Office.

CHATEAUGAY
Village Board (two seats): Robert Bessette and Patricia Dragon.

Polling place: Village Office.

DANNEMORA
The Village of Dannemora does not have any expired terms, so there will be no election in the village.

KEESEVILLE
Village Board (two seats): George Armstrong, Robin E. Bezio, Kathleen D. Klages and Bradley Knapp.

Polling place: Keeseville Civic Center.



LAKE PLACID
Village Board (unexpired term): Jason Leon.

Polling place: North Elba Town Hall.

MALONE
Malone village elections are held with town elections in November.

PORT HENRY
Village Board (two seats): Ruth McDonough; John Viestenz.

Referendum: To dissolve the Village of Port Henry and turn its assets over to the Town of Moriah.

Polling place: Village Fire Station, Church Street.

ROUSES POINT
Mayor: George Rivers.

Village Board (two seats): Francis Baker; John Huchro.

Polling place: Halstead Hall, 39 Lake St.

SARANAC LAKE
Mayor: Jeffrey K. Branch (Republican, Conservative Party); and Clyde Rabideau (Democrat, Freedom Party).

Village Board (two seats): Shawn R. Boyer (Independent, Smart Party); Thomas P. Catillaz (Democrat, Freedom Party); Diana Howard (Republican, Integrity Party); Elias "Allie" Pelletieri (Republican, Conservative); and Susan A. Waters (Democrat, Freedom Party).

Village justice: Thomas R. Glover (Republican, Conservative); and Paul J. Herrmann (Democrat, Freedom Party).

Village justice (unexpired term): Kenneth J. McLaughlin (Republican, Conservative); and Jon F. Vinograd (Democrat, Freedom Party).

Polling place: Harrietstown Town Hall auditorium.

TUPPER LAKE
Tupper Lake village elections are held with town elections in November.
