PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman has pleaded guilty to charges relating to the abuse of her infant son.
Naomi Mason was first arrested late last year after her 7-week-old son was taken to CVPH Medical Center with a fractured arm.
Medical staff contacted police after they tended to the boy's arm and discovered a number of other injuries that were in the process of healing.
While being questioned by authorities, the 21-year-old mother of two lied about how the injuries came about and was taken into custody for felony assault, endangering the welfare of a child and making a false statement.
The assault charge was later dismissed by court order on a legal issue of whether the abuse was intentional or reckless.
Recently, Mason reappeared before Clinton County Family Court and Integrated Domestic Violence Court Judge Timothy Lawliss and admitted to the remaining charges.
Prosecutors said she now faces up to a year in Clinton County Jail when she returns to court for sentencing Monday afternoon.
The related misdemeanor case against Mason's husband, Stephen A. Mason, 21, is still pending.
He is due back in Integrated Domestic Violence Court next month.
Their son continues to recover and remains in the custody of Child Protective Services.
