Essex County lawmakers head for Albany
ELIZABETHTOWN — Members of the Essex County Board of Supervisors cleared their plate this week so they could attend a state conference.
The Ways and Means Committee, comprised of the full board, is usually scheduled to meet the last Monday of the month, but instead met last Thursday.
That was so supervisors could attend the New York State Association of Counties annual conference at the Desmond Hotel in Albany.
All resolutions passed by the committee will go on the agenda for the regular February board meeting set for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the Old County Courthouse in Elizabethtown.
Tax cap on ELCS Board agenda
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the conference room.
Proposed agenda items will be presentations by the "Green Team" and 2 percent tax-cap update by Ron Clamser, along with routine board business.
Everyone is welcome.
Volunteers sought for Fresh Air Fund
ELIZABETHTOWN — The Fresh Air Fund's Essex County committee seeks volunteer members and host families so that visiting inner-city children can enjoy new experiences and lasting friendships this summer.
Each summer, close to 4,000 New York City children ages 6 to 18 enjoy vacations for up to two weeks with volunteer host families in suburban, rural and small-town communities across 13 states in the Northeast and Canada. Local Fresh Air Fund volunteers recruit and interview host families, check references and coordinate group program activities in their communities.
