Plattsburgh teen charged with burglary, impersonation

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh teen is accused of burglarizing a home and pretending to be someone else while threatening another person.

Megan Leary, 18, was taken into custody just before 9 p.m. Tuesday following an investigation into a reported burglary, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's Department.

She is accused of stealing property from a Beekmantown home.

While committing the burglary, Leary made threats of physical violence against someone at the home and pretended to be someone else, the Sheriff's Department said.

Leary was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, both felonies.

She was additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing, menacing, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal impersonation and aggravated harassment.

Leary was arraigned in Beekmantown Town Court and sent to Clinton County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

She is to reappear in court at a later date to face the charges.

No further information was available Wednesday.
