Queens couple robbed at gunpoint in Chesterfield

RAYBROOK — State Police in Ray Brook are investigating an alleged armed robbery that took place at about 2:30 Sunday morning in the Town of Chesterfield.

According to Lt. Scott Heggelke, a young couple from Queens had stopped along State Route 22 in Chesterfield, approximately 1.5 miles from Exit 33 off Interstate 87. The female victim was outside of the vehicle when a dark sports utility vehicle pulled up behind them.

According to police, five Hispanic males, two displaying handguns, approached the couple and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash and personal property, in addition to assaulting the couple.

The suspects spoke Spanish and one is believed to be wearing a purplish shirt. And the SUV, police said, had Florida license plates. After the incident, the SUV turned around and went north, leaving the couple.

The couple got back on I-87, heading south, where they went to the Lewis State Police barracks and reported the incident. They were taken to Elizabethtown Community Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released, Heggelke said.

A State Police investigation is currently under way. Anyone that may have seen anything or has information should call State Police in Lewis at 873-2750.

  • computer.jpg In fan fiction, your favorite characters do what you want them to

When J.J. Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn't gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn't care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
