State Police: Off-duty trooper was intoxicated

INDIAN LAKE — A State Police trooper has been suspended without pay following his arrest on a charge of operating a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, an Indian Lake-based trooper was dispatched to a possible personal-injury snowmobile accident on State Route 30 in the Town of Indian Lake, according to a press release from State Police Troop B.

Investigation revealed that a snowmobile owned and operated by Randy J. Weaver, 31, an off-duty trooper based at Indian Lake, had become stuck in a snow-filled ditch by the roadside.

He appeared intoxicated, police said, and, after he underwent standardized field sobriety tests, was arrested, the release said.

The charge against him is a violation of Section 25.24 of the State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Laws.

Weaver is scheduled to appear in Indian Lake Town Court at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8.

FYI...
  • computer.jpg In fan fiction, your favorite characters do what you want them to

When J.J. Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn't gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn't care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
