Lake Placid man dies in motorcycle crash

BLACK BROOK — A motorcyclist died after his bike crashed Monday evening.

Edward L. Brown, 60, of Lake Placid was riding his 2003 Harley in the Town of Black Brook near 1986 State Route 9N when he lost control of the bike, said Plattsburgh-based State Police Trooper Darren Forgea.

Forgea said Brown, who was traveling south shortly after 6 p.m., left the road via the westbound shoulder for an unknown reason.

Brown was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

He was taken by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Cody Smith.

Forgea said an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon; the cause of the accident remained under investigation.

The AuSable Forks Volunteer Fire Department, AuSable Forks Emergency Services and Keeseville-based State Police also responded to the call.
