Hannaford Supermarkets grand re-opening is Saturday

'We could not think of a better way to celebrate the grand re-opening'

PLATTSBURGH — To celebrate its renovated Plattsburgh store, Hannaford Supermarkets donated $500 in gift cards and 92 pounds of pasta, cereal and canned tuna to JCEO of Clinton and Franklin Counties.

Hannaford will also hold a grand re-opening celebration that starts at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Steve Williams, manager of Hannaford's Plattsburgh supermarket, said the company has a long-standing tradition of fighting hunger in its communities.

"We could not think of a better way to celebrate the grand re-opening of our Plattsburgh store than by giving back to the community we serve with a donation to the JCEO of Clinton and Franklin Counties," he said in a press release.

JCEO Chief Executive Officer Bruce Garcia said Hannaford has been a partner with JCEO since the store opened.

"This donation is really going to help our food shelf, and getting the gift cards that will help our people purchase some essentials they are not normally able to purchase is a great gift for us," he said after the donations were made Wednesday morning.

REVAMPED LAYOUT

The new layout features a one-line checkout queue, with a store employee who directs shoppers to the best available checkout lane. It is designed to alleviate slow-moving lines and provide faster, more efficient and fair service to customers regardless of order size.

There is also a new on-site pharmacy, with licensed pharmacists available for questions. It accepts all third-party insurance.

The new store also features a chicken-wing bar, with hot, ready-made wings.

NEW CHAPTER

The renovations were intended to create a better overall shopping experience with expanded product variety and an updated decor. That includes more types of organic, natural and gluten-free products, with samples available during the celebration.

"Each change was spurred in an effort to enhance the shopping experience with an eye toward expanding our offerings of organic and natural products," Williams said. "I encourage the Plattsburgh community to join us as we celebrate a new chapter for our store while maintaining the same Hannaford everyday low prices, quality foods and service."

The first 300 customers on Saturday will receive a free reusable tote bag and a Hannaford mystery gift card valued between $5 and $250.

Customers can also enter to win free groceries for one year from Hannaford. The grand-prize winner will receive $5,200 in Hannaford gift cards.

Two first-prize winners will each get a $250 Hannaford gift card, and seven second-prize winners will each receive a $100 Hannaford gift card.

Winners will be announced Aug. 21.

SCAVENGER HUNT

The celebration continues through the month of July with special promotions.

July 23, customers are invited to visit the pharmacy and speak with a registered dietician during a Health and Wellness Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shoppers can enter to win one of two Health and Wellness baskets that include a $250 Hannaford gift card.

Children can take part in a scavenger hunt for items of high nutritional value.

There will be a customer appreciation day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 30. It will include an outdoor barbecue, during which Hannaford will match customer donations to benefit JCEO.

The store is open from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. Pharmacy hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
