City to replace Waterhouse Street sewer line

Work scheduled to begin Monday

PLATTSBURGH — A contractor for the City of Plattsburgh will be replacing a sewer line at the end of Waterhouse Street beginning Monday.

The work is expected to be complete by the end of the day on Wednesday.

The city is required to perform this work to reduce the number of wet-weather sewer overflows to the Saranac River.

According to a news release from the city, this is what you can expect during construction:

Work will begin around 7 each morning and should end around 3 p.m.

The project consists of an excavation trench of about 115 feet between two manholes, removal of the existing 8-inch sewer line and installation of a new 15-inch line. Some bypass pumping of sewer flows will occur during work hours.

There will be one or two large pieces of heavy equipment, some workers’ trucks, a pump and some deliveries at the end of Waterhouse Street.

Access to driveways and homes will be maintained but will be tighter than usual.

There will some noise from the equipment and pumps during working hours.

The work area will be protected as necessary.

Repaving of the excavated area will take place.
