Storm delays flights at Plattsburgh International

PLATTSBURGH — Snow and freezing temperatures Monday resulted in some flight delays at Plattsburgh International Airport.

Allegiant Air Public Relations and Promotions Coordinator Sabrina LoPiccolo said the airline had two flights to and from Plattsburgh on Monday.

A flight from Fort Lauderdale to Plattsburgh was diverted to Bangor, Maine, because of low visibility, she said. It refueled and arrived in Plattsburgh three hours late.

The return flight was set to depart at around 3:30 p.m.

A later flight from Orlando to Plattsburgh was expected to arrive and depart on schedule, LoPiccolo said.

Cape Air spokeswoman Michelle Haynes said their staff at the airport said the runway was closed at about 11 a.m. for a few hours due to icy conditions.

One flight Monday from Boston to Plattsburgh was delayed by about an hour, she said.

The snow tapered off by about 3 p.m., and the company expected its 5:20 p.m. flight to arrive on schedule in Plattsburgh.

Direct Air also had a flight from Myrtle Beach, S.C., to Plattsburgh and back Monday. Partner Judy Tull said the flight arrived at 9 a.m. and departed at 10 a.m. without any delay.

Plattsburgh International Airport Manager Thomas Long could not be reached Monday to discuss conditions at the facility.
