Local man charged in hunting accident

By ANDREA VanVALKENBURG

PLATTSBURGH — A Saranac man is facing charges for allegedly shooting a fellow hunter last month.

Gary A. Gambadora was hunting with Scott D. Lamare in the Beekmantown woods Nov. 15 when he mistakenly shot the 35-year-old Morrisonville man, State Police said.

Investigators said Lamare, who was not wearing blaze orange, was shot once in the lower leg by Gambadora, who had a .30-06-caliber rifle.

Gambadora, 64, of Saranac was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the shooting.

After being arraigned in the Schuyler Falls Town Court, Gambadora was released on his own recognizance with the consent of the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office.

He is scheduled to appear in Plattsburgh Town Court today to face the allegations.

Lamare, a local correction officer, lost a portion of his leg as a result of the shooting and continues to recover.

Officials with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation were also involved in the investigation.
