Keene Valley man arrested for rape

KEENE VALLEY — Kyle J. Kernan-Dudley, 18, faces charges of first-degree rape, accused of engaging in sexual contact with a pre-teen in Keene Central School.

The Keene Valley man allegedly entered the school at around midnight on both Nov. 20 and 21 through an unlocked window, according to a press release from Ray Brook-based State Police. The girl involved, it says, was “less than 13 years old.”

Following a police investigation, Kernan-Dudley was arrested Wednesday and arraigned before Town of North Elba Judge Dean Dietrich. He is also charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

Kernan-Dudley was released after posting $2,000 bail, with another court appearance set for Monday in Town of Keene Court.

Keene Central School Board member Kathy Regan said she couldn’t comment on the break-in, referring calls to Superintendent/Principal Cynthia Johnston.

Johnston couldn’t be reached this afternoon.
