Search on in Essex County for possible downed plane

NEWCOMB, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a search is resuming in the Adirondacks after authorities received a report of a possible plane crash in a remote section of the region.

State police at Ray Brook say the search was to continue Tuesday morning for a possible downed aircraft in the sparsely populated town of Newcomb, in southern Essex County 90 miles northwest of Albany.

Troopers say no other information is available.

A state Department of Environmental Conservation dispatcher at Ray Brook referred calls to the agency's public information office in Albany. A call to that office wasn't immediately returned Tuesday morning.
