Local man injured in hunting accident

Hunter shot in leg; no charges yet, police say

PLATTSBURGH — A Morrisonville man was shot in the leg Sunday, allegedly by a member of his hunting party.

New York State Police based in Plattsburgh said Scott Lamare, 35, was shot about 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the lower left leg in a wooded area in the Town of Plattsburgh near Florence Jean Lane.

Capt. Robert LaFountain of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation said Lamare was hunting with a group of people and that Gary A. Gambadora, 64, of Saranac, who had a Ruger 30-06 rifle, fired the shot that hit Lamare.

Lamare, who was not wearing blaze orange, was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment of his injuries. He was listed in stable condition there Monday night.

No charges had been filed as of Monday, but the investigation is continuing, with the Clinton County Sheriff's Department and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation assisting troopers.

LaFountain said all the information they find will be reviewed with the Clinton County District Attorney's Office to determine if any criminal charges are warranted.
