West Chazy man now accused of abusing two boys

PLATTSBURGH — Thomas L. West is now accused of sexually abusing two boys from the area.

The West Chazy man, 44, was first arrested in July after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 10-year-old boy at least three times earlier this year.

In that case, West was charged with three felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual act and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

As that case continues to work its way through the local court system, West was recently indicted and arrested for allegedly abusing another boy, who is now 16, said Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Chantelle Schember.

Authorities believe West attempted to force the boy to engage in sexual acts on a least one occasion and then actually forcing him another time.

The latest allegations have left West facing new charges of attempted first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

He remains in custody in Clinton County Jail, unable to post bail or bond, and will reappear in court at a later date to face the charges.

Earlier this week, the Press-Republican reported the indictment but that it involved the original case.
