Common Council agenda set for tonight


PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will tackle several agenda items at tonight's meeting.

Among them are finalizing details of the Akey Landfill closure and details for improvements to the Water Pollution Control Plant.

Also, the council will approve the re-appointment by Mayor Donald Kasprzak of John Girard to the Board of Assessment review, effective Oct. 1, 2009, to Sept. 30, 2014.

The meeting begins with a work session at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 5:30.

Westport School Board candidate sought


WESTPORT — The Westport Central School District is seeking a candidate to fill the remainder of a five-year term vacancy on the School Board, which will expire June 30, 2011.

The seat is vacant due to the resignation of Kathleen CarterMartinez.

Petitions are available in the District Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until Nov. 23. Petitions must be returned to the District Office no later than 4 p.m. Nov. 23.

The School Board special election will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the lobby outside the Bulles Auditorium.
