Challenger Kristy Sprague defeated incumbent Julie Garcia in the race for district attorney in Essex County.
The vote: Garcia (D), 5,978; Sprague (R-C-I), 6,053.
CLINTON COUNTY TREASURER
In the race for treasurer in Clinton County, incumbent Joseph Giroux has defeated challenger Martin Mannix.
The numbers: Giroux (R): 10,586; Mannix (D): 7,574.
ESSEX COUNTY SHERIFF
In the race for sheriff in Essex County, incumbent Henry Hommes has defeated two challengers, Robert Kirby and Michael “Ike” Tyler.
The numbers: Hommes (R-C-I), 5,280; Tyler, (I), 3,086; Kirby (I), 1,319.

Here’s a look at some interesting town races:
In Ellenburg, incumbent Town Supervisor James McNeil (D) was defeated by challenger Richard Pearson (R) by a vote of 432 to 269.
In Essex, longtime Town Supervisor Ronald Jackson (R-I), with 139 votes, lost to challenger Sharon Boisen (I), who had 153.
In Ticonderoga, Debra Malaney (R-I), with 805 votes, beat Robert DeChame (D), with 619, for town supervisor.
In Peru, Peter Glushko, with 1,202 votes, crushed Thomas Powers, with 335 votes, for the town supervisor position. The Partners for Peru members took a beating in Town Council races.
In the Town of Franklin, longtime Town Supervisor Mary Ellen Keith has been defeated by challenger Arthur Willman.
In the Town of Burke, incumbent Supervisor Albert Johnson appears to have won re-election by 8 votes over Donald Strachan.
In the Town of Malone, Tom Shanty is drawing big votes in his bid for highway superintendent. Shanty is the man who was involved in the snowplow accident last December. It was revealed just before elections that he may have failed a drug and alcohol test at the time of the crash. Some people, including Shanty, saw the release of the information as an attempt to kill his bid for election. Final results are: Shanty, 1,271; Ronnie Benware, 683.
In Crown Point, Supervisor Dale French (R), who has led the town for years, lost to political newcomer Bethany Kosmider. She had 354 votes; he had 308.
In Willsboro, Supervisor Lori Lincoln-Spooner (R), held off a challenge by former Supervisor Robert Ashline.
In Beekmantown, Supervisor Dennis Relation held his seat against challenger Gary Peacock, who had been outspoken as an opponent of the wind project planned for the town. Totals are: Relation, 1036; Peacock, 732.
Mickey Desmarais keeps his job as mayor of Tupper Lake, with 632 votes, over Daniel Carmichael, with 415 votes.
