PLATTSBURGH — A van involved in an accident in downtown Plattsburgh on Monday morning wound up in the window of the Lily Pond.
City Police said that just before 8:30 a.m., Jamie J. Viveiros, 31, of Plattsburgh was stopped at the intersection of Bridge and Durkee streets when his small white Toyota was smashed from behind by a van driven by David A. Dubrey, 45, of Plattsburgh.
The crash shoved Viveiros's car into the intersection in a spray of glass and parts.
The van continued on through the four-way intersection and into the window of the Lily Pond jewelry store at 17 Bridge St., where Dubrey sat slumped over the wheel, bleeding from the head.
City Police said Dubrey had a seizure just before the accident. He was taken to CVPH Medical Center with facial cuts. He was admitted and was listed in stable condition Monday.
Viveiros was also taken to the hospital, suffering from neck and back pain. He was treated for his injuries and sent home.
A truck from Dubrey's family business, Dubrey Towing, was used to pull the van out of the window and take it away.
Building owner Mike Lawler said his building is insured, but he had no estimate of damage Monday afternoon. Workers were busy boarding up the shattered window area. Police said some of the business's inventory was damaged in the accident.
Tickets are pending the completion of the investigation.
