ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Democratic Vice President Joe Biden urged more than 150 supporters to keep campaigning for Democratic nominee Bill Owens in the final hours of northern New York's 23rd Congressional District race.
Biden spoke for more than a half-hour at the North Side Improvement League hall in Watertown, telling his audience that Owens' opponent, Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman, wants to continue the failed policies of the Bush-Cheney administration.
Republican Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava dropped out of the race Saturday and now Hoffman and Owens are scrambling to pick up last minute votes in the district, which includes all or part of 11 counties in New York's rural north.
The special election is Tuesday.
