CVPH providing area for flu treatment.

PLATTSBURGH —In order to better meet the increasing demand for providing care for people with flu-like symptoms, CVPH Medical Center has temporarily converted its ambulance bay into treatment areas.

Up to eight patients experiencing flu-like symptoms will be accommodated in the heated area off of the main Emergency Department, according to a press release from the medical center.

All patients including those arriving by ambulance will enter at the main emergency entrance where they will be triaged and directed to the appropriate treatment site within the CVPH Emergency Department.

This new ancillary treatment area will be staffed when the demand for care exceeds capacity in the Fast Track and main Emergency Department. Typically the CVPH Emergency Department averages 140 patients daily. The increasing number of people presenting with flu-like symptoms has resulted in significantly greater use in recent days.
