Felony sexual-abuse case delayed

BEEKMANTOWN — A new court date has been set for Leonard Cormier, 72, of Cooper Drive, who faces felony sexual-abuse charges.

He was arrested July 11 in relation to a July 9 incident, when he allegedly inappropriately touched the victim, who is not capable of giving consent.

He is charged with third-degree aggravated criminal sexual act and second-degree criminal sexual act, both felonies.

He is also charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person or physically disabled person, which is a misdemeanor. Cormier was released on $5,000 bail to appear in court in August. He was due back in court on Wed., Nov. 14, but the case was adjourned until 5 p.m. Dec. 12, again in Beekmantown Town Court.

The Clinton County District Attorney’s Office said earlier that no comment could be made on whether the case would go before a grand jury, as proceedings for such charges are kept secret by statute.

FYI...
  • computer.jpg In fan fiction, your favorite characters do what you want them to

When J.J. Abrams took over the "Star Trek" franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn't gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn't care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
